In this new graphic novel edition of the very first Baby-Sitters Club book, Raina Telgemeier captures all the drama of the original in warm, spunky illustrations. Witness Kristy's eureka moment, when she gets the idea for a "baby-sitters club" and enlists her best friends, shy Mary Anne and artistic Claudia, in an exciting new venture. But the baby-sitting business isn't the only thing absorbing their attention: Kristy is having a hard time accepting her stepdad-to-be, and the newest member of the gang, Stacey, seems to be hiding a secret.Rating Based On Books Kristy's Great Idea (Baby-Sitters Club Graphic Novels #1)

This was my first Baby-Sitters Club experience and I loved it!IT IS GORGEOUS OMG!!!! Anyone who knows me knows of my love for all things BSC. They were my favourites as a child, they are my favourites as an adult. I obsessively collect anything BSC, and I like it. I was hella excited when the first graphic novel came out almost nine (!!!) years ago, and I fell in love immediately. Raina Telgemeier's illustrations suit the story and the characters perfectly, and she did an excellent job of translating the novel into a more visual format. (And an anecdote:
I grew up reading The Baby Sitters Club. So of course I had to give the graphic novel a try. Especially since it is written by Raina Telgemeier, who I love. The pictures are definitely cute and I feel like they captured the essence of the characters. It was fun to re live the books, but it wasn't anything amazing.
Enterprising Kristy starts essentially a babysitting empire, I mean business with three other girls. Ive never read the original, really popular books, and figured Id finally check out a story. As Ive enjoyed other books by Raina Telgemeir, the comic seemed like the way to go. And this was enjoyable. Its light, but with more serious elements (a parent contemplating remarrying, an absent father, type 1 diabetes, etc.) making for a more complex story than the comics bright colours imply.
That was so cute and quick I'm glad I read it and I Definetly want to read the next three books!
When I was between the ages of 8 and 12, I LOVED the BSC. I remember I even wrote to Ann M. Martin and she (or her ghostwriter) wrote back 3 solid pages of reply, which made me love her even more. Then, my mom unceremoniously have away all my BSC books to some friend of hers, and have been upset about it for like, a solid 22 years now. Imagine the joy when I saw that there was a graphic novel version, and its still as great as I remember it being. Theres a lot thats outdated (hello, only one of
