imagine if Bella didnt suck and had chosen the werewolves and was also gaythis book follows Ox Matheson as he navigates life and growing up in a small town. at the beginning of the novel we see his father leave and a new family move in "down the lane" which really starts the beginning of Ox's life. i can't do justice to this story or the way it was written, honestly. this book spans a nearly 10 year period and is told exclusively through Ox's point of view. his relationships both familial andfunny how stephenie meyer has been quiet since t.j klune wrote this

It's a flawless book and shows that you can take the fantastic and make it so very human. Ox is so well named, solid and sturdy with everything swirling around him, he is the linchpin that holds everyone together. I thought the supernatural would be what grabbed me but instead it's Ox's humanity and humility and loyalty. I hope there will be more. Wildly recommended.

5 stars for this unique, heartbreaking, soul wrenching, but absolutely amazing story!Re-read on January 2019 and loved it just as much as I did the first time.
